The town of Kazanlak
Kazanlak is proud of its great Thracian heritage and can rightly be called the capital of the Valley of the Thracian Kings. One can feel the secrets of the Thracian civilization here. One of its most remarkable monuments is the Thracian Tomb in Kazanlak, part of the world’s cultural heritage of UNESCO. Other significant sights are the burial mounds “Golyama Kosmatka”, “Ostrusha”, and “Svetitsata”. The museums and galleries introduce the visitors to the history of the town, the legends of its beginnings, and the authentic way of life of the local people, which invariably included rose oil production, Chudomir’s funny stories, the paintings of great artists such as Dechko Uzunov and Nenko Balkanski, and the music of the ingenious Petko Staynov. At the end of May and the beginning of June you can enjoy the fragrance of Rosa Damascena, the source of the highly valued essential oil. This is the time when the people of Kazanlak celebrate the beauty of their Queen of Roses.
Come to Kazanlak, a modern little town, open to guests, whom it will surprise and fascinate!
